At Lake Tahoe, the water coming off your roof has to go somewhere. When downspouts, yard drains and French drain inlets fill with pine needles, cones and grit, water backs up against the foundation, pools on walkways and freezes into ice sheets. Our drain cleaning service keeps exterior drainage clear, especially before winter.

This is exterior drain cleaning, part of the outdoor work we already do for Tahoe homes, cabins and vacation rentals. We don't work on indoor plumbing, sewer mains or septic lines. For those, call a licensed plumber or septic company.

Exterior drains we clean

  • Gutter downspouts: clogs cleared at the outlet and elbows, plus downspout extensions and splash blocks reset.

Flush exterior drain lines before winter

Fall is the most important time to clean exterior drains at Tahoe. After the needle drop, gutters and downspouts carry debris straight into underground lines and catch basins. If those lines are clogged when the first storms hit, meltwater has nowhere to go, then freezes in place. Clearing and flushing drains before the first hard freeze gives snowmelt a path away from the house.

We clear what we can reach by hand, then flush accessible lines with water to make sure they flow. If a line is crushed, disconnected or full of roots, flushing won't fix it, and we'll tell you so you can bring in a plumber or drainage contractor.

Lake-safe note: We flush with plain water and bag the needles and sediment we pull out instead of washing them downhill toward the lake.

No. We focus on exterior drainage: yard drains, downspouts, catch basins, French drain inlets and accessible exterior drain lines. For clogged sinks, toilets, sewer mains or septic lines, call a licensed plumber or septic company.

When is the best time to clean exterior drains at Tahoe?
